In her will, ca. 1839, Isabella Buster freed the slave Delilah. Isabella requested that son-in-law Anderson Walker and daughter Jane see that Delilah was not abused and that she received good wages. Later Delilah applied to county court clerk for a record of the emancipation she could use as free papers. She was told that the grant of freedom had never been perfected and that she her children Thomas and Violet were "in jeopardy."
