The unnamed deceased visited & had an illicit relationship with Jerusha Glover who lived with her mother Rebecca. ____ Arrants was visiting the Glovers one night with the dec., & asked the dec'd to collect firewood with him. When out in the wood, the Glovers heard a shot then Arrants returned quite shaken. Both Arrants & Richards were seen leaving the area soon after, & were accused of murdering the dec'd. Case mentions no name of dec'd, & no first names of the accused.

Long convicted for the first-degree murder of Bronce Rogers in March 1934. He was sentenced to 22 years in the penitentiary. Testimony: T. E. Victim: George Cole. Cause of action: murder by cutting with a knife. Alonzo Smith worked in the field with George Cole's children, Will Cole and Ethel Cole. Ethel ran away to marry Jim Smith. There was a knife fight between George Cole and Will Cole against Alonzo Smith and Jim Smith over preventing the marriage. Alonzo stabbed George.

Additional Defendants: Dock Hutchinson, B.M. Taylor, Louis Herron. The defendants were accused of murdering Henry Webb (alias Fritzie Webb), the husband of Annie Webb. Due to Dock Hutchinson and B.M. Taylor using separate lawyers from Annie Webb, the case is also referred to as Dock Hutchinson et al. Additional documents located in box 1508.

Plaintiff in error is accused of shooting and murdering Riley McWhorter. Testimony suggests that the plaintiff was carrying on a romantic relationship with Frances McWhorter, the wife of the deceased. Plaintiff lived at 2007 Luther Street in Knoxville.

Related documents may be located in ET 814. Andy Williams, also known as Andrew Williams or Henry Williams is accused of murdering Adolph Dutch, by beating him with a stick or club. Adolph Dutch was a jail guard who took his prisoner, Andy Williams, to look for a watch he had stolen and hidden near Birds Mill, 6 miles from Chattanooga. On their journey Williams hit Dutch from behind, killing him.

Case originated in Hardeman County but venue was moved to Madison Co. The public was so outraged that it was believed that violent harm might be done to Green. The number of pages includes a folded letter to Gov. Turney pleading for executive clemency.

Seems to be incomplete. Only "Brief for Plaintiff in Error" present. Cause of action: Murder in the second degree. Victim: Alonzo Small.

2 folders. Murder of J. G. Ward. J. G. Ward was a sharecropper raising tobacco on B. S. Abernathy's property. Abernathy and Ward got into an argument over when to strip the tobacco and Abernathy stabbed Ward.

Durham is accused of shooting Leroy Barnes. Durham was previously in jail on a liquor charge.
