Case in 2 folders. William T. Norment (husband of Virginia) had $10,000 life insurance policy with company. Company refused to pay out benefit after his death. Norment sued to obtain $10,000 benefit & for an additional $10,000 in damages.

Additional plaintiffs: Joseph Bohn, David Mack, Samuel Fleichman, doing business as Bohn, Mack & Co. Additional Defendants: Morris Bradt, James Gottschalk, doing business as Bradt & Gottschalk. Plaintiffs sued for the amount of a note plus damages and interest.

Arthur Poole is charged with illegally selling intoxicating liquors out of his home.

Plaintiff sought to recover $190.28 in premiums paid to defendant company on the basis of being mislead to sign up as beneficiary of John Stewart (col). However, plaintiff discovered that she was unable to collect on policy o insured since she had no insurable interest in the life of John Stewart. This is a debt case. American Discount Co. sued Earl Brown for $403.20 which is the amount they say that he owed on a Willys De Luxe Sedan Automobile.

Company truck hit Gray's car. Plaintiff asking for damages for his injuries.

Mrs. Parsons widow of W. H. Parsons, Jr., who was killed in FL when the car in which he was riding collided with a car driven by Albert H. Garnier. Garnier was also killed in the accident. American Trust administrator of his estate. Mrs. Parsons suing American Trust for compensatory damages in the wrongful death of her husband. Possible that the Garnier car, which was facing the car in which Parsons was riding, did not dim its lights as required by FL law. See also box 1542

Arthur Lowe and Vernon Sisk and both charged with robbery for forcibly taking the money of Mr. S.C. Stephens. They came up behind him on his way home from work and pulled a knife on him and took his money.

Sheriff's bond of A. B. Conner, elected Sheriff 26 March 1870. In the November Term 1871 the grand jury certified that Conner's official bonds were insufficient. He was given 10 days to "justify his present security or to give a good and sufficient bond"

Incomplete file; only McClellan's brief to Supreme Court. 1875: Johnson convicted of robbery in Shelby County; sentenced to 21 yrs, 5 yrs of which Gov. Alvin Hawkins commuted in 1883. Also in 1883, TN passed law allowing time off sentence for "good time". Also passed law to allow leasing out of prisoner labor (1st work release program in country). This case involves Johnson's 2nd attempt to use the "good time" law to get out of prison, despite 2 escapes & 1 attempted escape.

The cause of action in this case is listed as "debt due by note under five hundred dollars."

Court ruled in favor of plaintiff and ruled that Nelson recover from Bohn $491.45 for debt and $36.86 for damages. Bohn appealed.
