Plaintiff in error, also known as Bush Settle and Bushrod (?) Settle, along with John B. Smith is accused of taking several suits, pocket knives, handkerchiefs, boots, stamps, scissors, a watch, jewelry and shoes from a store owned by N. G. Maddox.

Murdered Polk Smartt, African American

The State charged Green with the theft of a mule valued at $75. The circuit court jury sentenced him to three years hard labor at the state penitentiary.

The charge is larceny of 25 bushels of wheat.

Indicted by a grand jury for disturbing the peace at an "an assembly for literacy or educational purposes." Defendant moved to quash the indictment with a plea in abatement challenging the testimony of a grand jury witness, J.J. Nomack. Defendant could not write his own name on the court papers instead making his mark, an X, on the them.

Charge was attempted murder by beating with a pistol Tom Cardwell, also of Warren County.

Sentenced to two years in the state penitentiary

Bennett Dula is charged with the murder of William Patton who was found dead in the mountains. He killed Patton and took his belongings including his horse and his watch.

The State charged Woodlee with running a "disorderly house." The jury found her guilty "hesitatingly," and fined her $5.

Mr. Martin, an African-American man, was convicted in 1874 for stealing two sides of bacon valued at $3 from Nancy Biles. The second count was for stealing an additional two sides. The third count was for stealing eight sides of bacon and four shoulders valued at $15. Martin said he was unable to get a fair trial in Warren county. The bacon was described as having been gnawed by cats then hung up using dried grass.

Victim: William Sanders and James Sanders Jr.

The victim was Hazel Lee. A.Z Holder also went by the name of Bud Holder.
