Williams was indicted for "malicious stabbing" on Aug 27, 1873, and was scheduled to appear for trial on Dec. 23, 1873. Defendant's father M.M. Williams posted a security bond promising to deliver defendant for his trial. Defendant did not appear for his trial. State sought payment on the security bond of $1000 for failure of defendant to appear at his trial. M.M. Williams claimed he delivered his son to the sheriff who allowed the defendant to escape.
