A.P. Green was a tailor and he did business with a firm under the name Massengill & Craighead, the defendant being the principle partner. The defendant received various goods and services from the plaintiff, for which he executed a note for $350. The note was never paid by the defendant and he is now indebted to the plaintiff. |

Plaintiff, daughter of def.. & his wife, Palestine Popejoy. By agreement plaintiff & her mother were named the beneficiaries of a $1700 life insurance policy purchased by N. Popejoy in 1924; they also paid the premiums. Mrs. Popejoy died May 1929. Plaintiff continued to pay premiums after mother's death, but has since learned that ca. 24 Nov. 1934 the deft. made an Ann Johnson the beneficiary instead of herself. Plaintiff now suing to recover the money spent on the insurance premiums. |

Before conveyance was made, a fire destroyed the title bonds to said land. Plaintiff prays that the title and interest in the land be divested from the heirs and placed with him. |

Additional plaintiffs: P.H. Starnes and George H. Littatoe[?]. Discusses previous case Mahala Rucker, et al. v. R.P. Moore, et al. (ET 1069) in which Moore, clerk, was ordered to sell slaves. Dalton had bid on negro girl and had learned of errors in the proceedings which caused them to become void; thus confering no valid title to Dalton for slaves. Moore had received judgment against Dalton, which Dalton had no notice of. Dalton wants proceedings in county court be made and void. |

Easley was security for Williams for the cost of the appeal and was sued because judgment was rendered against him for debt as well. Easley alleged that a written note did not give J.B. Jones, justice of the peace for Grainger county, authority to bind him for the debt but for costs only. |

Case by same name in ET 99, but has a different county. Add. defendant: S. A. Brooks. In 1865, the plaintiff purchased from L. N. Homer a tract of land for which he was executed a bond. The property is very valuable for the water power and sought to build a grist mill and brought in the defendant to help fund it as security and advancing him $2,000. The plaintiff executed to him a deed of trust, but the defendant has failed to keep up his end of the negotiated contract. |

Cameron sold Hayse a house & lot in Rutledge for an unspecified amount. Purchase agreement stated that if all of the money owed was not paid by a certain date, the Hayse would pay Cameron $4/month in rent. Cameron claimed that Hayse neither paid the purchase money owed nor paid any rent. |
