Wallace brought suit against Henry Hannum in 1835. Claimed to own lots in Maryville occupied by Hannum. Hannum claimed to be renting property from James White of Virginia. Court ruled in favor of Wallace. Supreme Court reversed decision & remanded case back to circuit court for retrial in 1839. Hannum died in 1845 & case was continued by his widow, Ann Eliza Hannum. Also names heirs: James, Ellen, Francis, William Alexander, & Kathleen Hannum. |

Brown was a tenant of Baring and paid rent, and Estess rented from Baring in 1862. Apparently Estess attempted to take ownership of the land but had no deed, and was ejected. |
