Wallace brought suit against Henry Hannum in 1835. Claimed to own lots in Maryville occupied by Hannum. Hannum claimed to be renting property from James White of Virginia. Court ruled in favor of Wallace. Supreme Court reversed decision & remanded case back to circuit court for retrial in 1839. Hannum died in 1845 & case was continued by his widow, Ann Eliza Hannum. Also names heirs: James, Ellen, Francis, William Alexander, & Kathleen Hannum.

The plaintiff was sueing the defendant to recover a lot of land. Plaintiff also stated to the court that he was forcibly ejected from the land. The defendant also was detaining the the plaintiff from returing to the land. See Abraham Moolsbee v. C. M. Starnes & Wife Eliza J. Starnes et al, ET1941.

George Michie was accused of trespassing on Alexander McMullin's land and ejecting his lessee. McMullin sued for $500 damages.

John Presly, Jonathan Thomas, Jacob Baring , and Miranda Baring held possession of a tract of land, then Estess took possession of the land in 1849. Brown was a tenant of Baring and paid rent, and Estess rented from Baring in 1862. Apparently Estess attempted to take ownership of the land but had no deed, and was ejected.

Case also involves charges of trespass and a land dispute.

Monteyre sued Fausher for breaking and entering and unlawfully ejecting him from a tract of land. Monteyre sued for $500 in damages.

The summons states that A.D. Stone was to appear to answer James F. Campbell in a plea that he "broke and entered the close and lands and premises of James Campbell and ejected him." He was seeking $500 in damages. James County. See additional pages in box ET 1695.

Everett sued Lea and Lea sued Everett over land deeds and boundary disputes. These lands were related to the site of the first East TN College. See similar cases: Bird F. Everett v. Suit involves the sell of property known as the Boyd place for back taxes.

Chafin is sometimes spelled Choffin. Hosch is sometimes spelled Hash.

Forgerson with force of arms ejected Murphy's lessee from the farm, causing injury.

The case involves a large tract of land that was subdivided into multiple parcels owned by the parties in the suit. The boundaries of land ownership were disputed, and this case sought to clarify the chain of deed and land boundaries. Def's: Alexander &Matthew Morrow, Robinson Keys, John Parsons, Elizabeth Grew & Headley Turner. Pl's: Jesse, Caroline F., &Elizabeth McClain, Cicero B., Erastus B., & Andrew J. Duncan.

Other plaintiff: wife Anne Wade. April 1 1842, the Wades contracted to possess & farm a 129 acre tract for a period of 10 years. April 2 1842, defendant said to have trespassed with force and arms, gained possession and ejected the plaintiffs. Plaintiffs sought $500 damages.

Plaintiff in error is accused by the defendants in error of entering into and occupying land rightfully owned by them. They are sued for recovery of the land which is described as resting in Civil District 23 of Greene County.

Case also includes a charge of trespassing.

Plaintiffs Andrew & Robert Crockett leased a farm Jan 1, 1826 for a term of 10 yrs. Plaintiffs state that on Jan 2, 1826, defendant entered land w/force & arms and ejected them from it. Other defendants: Arthur, John, Margaret, Elizabeth & Jane Campbell. Jury found defendants not guilty of trespass of a portion of tract in question, yet guilty as charged regarding the rest of the tract. This verdict set aside; later jury restored entire farm to plaintiffs.

The defendant trespassed on property owned by the plaintiff's and in which Murray lived. He ejected Murray from the property with damages of $500.

Plaintiffs David N. & Mary Ann Tate are sued the defendant for breaking and entering with force and arms and ejecting them to the plaintiffs damage of $5,000.00.
