J. A. Spencer was sheriff of Hardin County for two years (September 2, 1912-September 7, 1914). "Some time after he went out of office he decided that the County Court, as shown by the minutes, was open every day during the two years of his incumbency, and thereupon he prepared a statement of fees due him, at two dollars per day for two hundred and twenty four days, amounting to the sum of $448.00."
