In a previous suit, Frederic Uhl successfully sued Peter Turney and was awarded a judgment of about $300. Greer was his bonded surety. Turney did not pay the judgment, and then died. Greer sued Turney's estate, of which Williams was the executor, in order to settle the debt. |

In 1815, Thomas Brown obtained a judgment against White on security for Wilson for $300. Then they obtained a judgment against Wilson for $1,800, but Wilson was insolvent. James McEwen then filed a bill of interpleader against Wilson for $500, as leverage for the debt, Wilson had mortgaged an enslaved worker. The suit was filed to settle each of these complaints. |

In 1809, Nathan Whitman lived in Elbert County, Georgia. Arthur Jones wrote him a promissory note in 1811. Whitman was involved in the sale of cotton & produce, the price of which had fallen so that he was nearly insolvent. Before the note came due Jones mortgaged to Whitman his wagon & other items. Jones then obtained a judgment against Whitman to prevent the foreclosure on the mortgage. |

James Hays died & his widow sued the executors of the estate. She was left an enslaved girl, Fanny. There were two other enslaved women at the estate, Hannah & Sally. Dale was accused of selling land and other items belonging to the estate for his own personal profit. He also sold some of the enslaved women against the wishes of Polly Hays. |
