Plaintiff filed suit to recover the residue from the sale of a tract of land sold under a previous decree of the chancery court

Defendants are heirs of Harvell C. Hunt, dec. against other heirs of Hunt to settle estate, which includes an 80 acre tract of land. Additional Defendants: Mahulda J. Hunt, William E. Hunt, Robert L. Weakley, Thos. J. Yarborough, M. L. Cartwright

This case was a petition to incorporate Hamilton County Schools

The owner Rogers Garret & others in Macon, GA shipped 255 bales of cotton to Hall & Long as consignees at Louisville, KY at which the cotton was insured for $250 a bale. 41 bales of the cotton was never delivered. Plaintiff is sued the 2 rail roads for of the 41 bales that were destroyed in Chattanooga to recoup the debt of the shipment.

Additional Plaintiffs: Caroline Garrett, Nellie Williams, Jennie Ferrell, Susan Ferrell, Julia Barber, and Wat Copeland. Cooper et al. sued Cate, recorder of the City of Chattanooga for the illegally and oppressively transgressing the bounds of state laws by fining them each $7 per month or they'd be imprisoned in county jail on charge of being lewd women.

Case related to Cause No. 831. The city government passed an ordinance that allowed them a tax of 2% for every $1 worth of taxable property. Complainants showed that the city government had not spent the taxes collected appropriately nor returned the taxes to the citizens. They further assert the city is indebted through a bond to them and refuse to pay.

This bill was filed for the removal of particular portico erected in front of Plaintiff's home.

Additional defendants: Alabama & Chattanooga Rail Road Co., and the executor of Ken Boyce, deceased. This case involves a mechanics lien upon the hotel and the land upon which is situated in Chattanooga knows as the Stanton House, built in 1871. The defendant is the owner of said hotel and the President of the Alabama & Chattanooga Rail Road. The original bill exhibits the contract under which the work was decreed.

John Edwards "Shade" Wetsmoreland alias "Shade Woods" was accused of murdering William Emberling. High profile case covered as far away as Chicago. Also a part of Hamilton County folklore.

This bill was filed to prevent Mayor and Alderman from opening a street on and across the property of plaintiff.

Before Harriett's marriage to Gaskill, she was made a widow and a settlement of the deceased's estate was made between Harriett and the children in 1865. An issue arose in the first case from children of V. A. Gaskill's first marriage (John B. Whiteside and others) for a large portion of real estate when a portion was conveyed to Harriett's children. Plaintiff is a merchant conducting business in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In order to secure a large debt to merchants located in Baltimore, Maryland, the plaintiff conveyed in trust to the defendant, a store of goods and a tract of land. Plaintiff complains that the conveyance was actually a mortgage and that he was entitled to any remaining money and unsold land after his debts were paid.
