Plaintiffs are executors of the last will and testament of Richard Waterhouse (dec.). sued for the sum of $737.10, which was unlawfully detained by the defendant, with damages of $200.

In the original case, J. F. Abel sued based on his contract with the railway to serve as a medical professional "whenever an accident happened to any one by any trains or machinery." Abel sued for $75 when the railway failed to pay for his services

Louisa Swafford sued for $25,000 in damages for the unlawful death of her husband, James S. Swafford. James Swafford, dec. was working as a miner in the Picket's entry of Richland Mines, when the mine shaft collapsed- crushing his head, neck and body.

Plaintiff's name also listed as James M. Roddy on cover sheet, but David M. Roddy/Roddey everywhere is in case document. Plaintiff was guardian of Penelope & James Smith. Defendant was security on 2 notes for $41.65 and $154.34 owed by D. A. Bacon to plaintiff. Plaintiff & D. A. Bacon reached agreement to delay execution on debt for an indefinite period. Defendant argued that, because the agreement was reached without his knowledge, it released him from responsibility as security.

Pla. held several jobs with the Def. but the last was cleaning out holes where gunpowder would be poured and cleaning rock from blasts. While performing said duties, Pla. was struck by sliding rock, causing significant physical and mental impairments. Pla. claims he was never warned of the dangers of his job or taught how to perform his duties. Also included in the casefile are documents related "Gager Lime and Mfg. Co. v. Mrs. Lee Dooley," where Dooley's husband was killed by falling rock.

Plaintiff is sued for damages and debt in the sum of $2,000 for a breach of contract by the defendant. In 1934, the plaintiff entered into an oral contract with E. H. Newberry for the purchase of a lot and erected a house, insured by the defendant for $1,500. The defendant procured a rider for the policy, E. H. Newberry, by F. L. Cox, defendant's agent, without the plaintiff's knowledge or permission. Later, the house and contents were destroyed by a fire, and the defendant gave benefits to Newberry.

The plaintiff brought suit to collect $50 owed, when the evidence showed he actually was indebted to defendant for a wagon delivered. Circuit court found for defense, with $362.65 in court costs accrued over 5 yrs. of litigation

G. V. Tomlin, admr. of estate of Lin G. Tomlin, dec. Defendants: Jesse L. McPheeters, Sheriff of Rhea Co.; H. J. Baker, W. H. Rockholt, Charles O. Vaughn, W. G. Day, W. W. Fine, L. S. Wyrick, and W. J. Beane. Incident of 11 Feb. 1931, deceased Lin G. Tomlin was a prisoner of Rhea, having been previously convicted of a misdemeanor charge; was working out a fine & costs; in an effort to escape, was shot dead by Deputy Yank Rockholt. Seeking damages, $15,000. Died intestate.

W. S. and John Robinson operated as W. S. Robinson & Co. of Chattanooga. Blevins testified that he was a part of the company, and therefore owed a share of profits. The company had broken up, and claimed Blevins was not a part of the company, and was owed nothing.

Additional plaintiffs: Lewis McDonald, Daniel Hodges, A.J. Bankston, and John Howell. The plaintiffs were Confederate soldiers. The document makes several references to Smith's Cross Roads.

Dickey sued Vaughn. Vaughn had received judgment against J. E. Bohannon for $109.52 upon which judgment the justice of the peace entered Dickey as stayor by mistake without legal authority. Execution was levied on Dickey's property, which will be sold unless restrained by supersedes. Dickey wanted all further proceedings stopped until decision made in this court.

Cause of action is listed as "trespass in ejectment for wrongfully withholding from him the possession of the lands described in the plaintiff (A. Cooke) declaration."

Case involves the will of Britain Goodwin, dec.

Additional Plaintiff: John Brown. Additional Defendant: John Locke, exe. of Robert Bell, dec. Plaintiffs filed for the wrongful detainment of 'negroes' belonging to the estate of Robert Bell, dec. The 'negroes' in question are named by first name only in the bill along with a monetary value.

Plaintiff sued for damages amounting to $25000 for burns, disfigurement, and injuries while in the employ of defendant.
