Plaintiffs claimed they had purchased insurance to cover their hay, but after a fire occurred that destroyed their hay insurance would not pay for the loss. Amount of loss was $800. Hay was stored in a barn owned by the plaintiffs on a farm known as the McKinney Farm, located on the Jefferson Davis Highway just outside of Ripley, TN. Plaintiff claims to own half of undivided interest in a 416 acres track of land lying in the Mississippi River Bottom known as Ammons land.

Plaintiffs: J. Y. West, I. P. West, Jr. of Lauderdale Co. Defendants: Garr, Scott & Co., a corporation organized under laws of Indiana, Rufus Campbell, agent; J. W. Watkins, agent. Company retails engine, sawmill, and kindred machinery. Business dispute over three notes borrowed on account, also complaints that machinery failed to function properly.

The plaintiff was a flagman for the IC RR injured on the job.

Additional Defendants: Loula Foster, wife W. H. Foster & Rozelle Conner. Plaintiff won judgment giving him one half undivided interest in tract of land granted by State to Peter Ammen, dec. Ammen's will decreed that if his widow remarried his estate would be divided equally among his children. Ammen's widow, Mary A.; children Robert S. & D. C. Ammen; Mrs. Kate Seay. Ammen's widow remarried; Loula Foster purchased Seay's interest in land unaware of terms of will.

Defendant is actually named Virginia F. (V. F.) Younger. L. T. Hart is frequently referred to in the case as L. F. Hart. Complainants are identified in the text of the case as G. D. Bibb and Mrs. Hester Bibb.

The disagreement concerns whether the purchaser should have entered the title to some land he purchased before the final payment came due.
