Cause of Action: appeal to overturn charge

Price is charged with two counts of transporting illegal liquor "from one point in the State of Tennessee to another point in the State of Tennessee to another point within Lauderdale County, Tennessee, and with having unlawfully transported intoxicating liquors from some point without the State of Tennessee to another point in Lauderdale County, Tennessee."

Victim: Dunk Goodrich

Cause of Action: Carrying Burglary Tools.

Helm sued the state for overrulling on a murder charge. Helm was accused/convicted by the state of shooting and killing Ernest Tryce, a.k.a. Ernest Overall.

Victim: Emmerson Lovelace.

Violation of the four mile law.

Hamby did "unlawfully and carnally know one Leora Blakely, a female over the age of twelve and under the age of twenty one years." The case materials state that Leora was the daughter of Nathan Blakely. She was 18 years old and Hamby was 36 at the time of the trial. Leora gave birth to twins and placed them in the Leath Orphanage at Memphis. At the time of the trial, one of the children had died and the other was still at the orphanage.

Defendants are accused of burning a house. Nixon is found not guilty, and Partee is found guilty.

The charge: that Rice assaulted Ed Moody with "a heavy instrument," crushing his skull and causing his death.

Actual charge is assault with intent to commit voluntary manslaughter. Wallace is accused of assaulting W. D. Given with a loaded gun, which he fired (apparently missing his target).

The murder victim was named Dunk Goodrich. Both men were engaged with others in a game of craps on a Sunday night on the Mississippi River, when an argument arose and the victim (age 18) was shot to death. Most of the text is a lengthy description of the various types/degrees of murder.

Defendant originally found guilty of attempted murder in the shooting of Fed Robertson at the cabin of Bet Johnson. All parties African American. Defendant appealing verdict; asking for new trial. Also mentioned: Minnie Pearl Winbush, Bill Jackson & his brother, Frank Jackson.

Victim was Walter Curry. Charged with shooting Curry. Cover page included a note that indicated Dukes escaped from jail and as of the writing of the note had not been apprehended. Note is undated.
