Matthews--a lot and house in Trimble's First Addition in South Nashville on Hill St. and 5 lots in Haynie's Uptown Plan in Edgefield. The lot and house had a $1000 lien that was not made clear to Plaintiff and the 5 lots were subject to significant flooding. Plaintiff was an African American couple who felt they were fraudulently sold the land in Nashville. |

In a written contract, Long & Ashworth stated they had the authority to sell said property any time within 20 days for $12,000 for 1/3 cash and balance in 1 and 2 years. Mellier offered to pay Marshall $4000 (1/3 of purchase price), but Marshall refused to accept because another agent offered to pay her several hundred dollars more. Pla. Complaintant was the son of the defendant, both men went in to purchase a plot of land in "Haslams Plan" on Warren St. Defendant asserted he only wanted the right to quarry for rock on the plot, and afterward would give his share to plaintiff. Plaintiff had recently found his father did not put the deed in both of their names nor signed the land over after quarrying was complete. Complaintant has lived in a house on the plot for 6 years. |

The land was $3850 of which $850 was paid in cash and the remaining $3000 was to be paid by promissory notes. Enoch died intestate on May 22, 1874 before he could finish the payments. Northern placed a lien on the land until the rest of the money was paid. |

According to plaintiffs, Doss was to pay the note by completing work in their farm. Plaintiffs complain that Doss sold the horse to the defendant without ever working at the farm or paying for the horse. Plaintiffs are seeking ownership of the horse. |

Whiteside, Ella McGavock, more+ In 1847 David McGavock conveyed to the NHS a parcel of land for $1,100 for the purpose of a garden for stockholders. After 70 years it reverted back. Located near the McGavock Plan north of Nashville, the land was eventually used as a dance and beer hall. Plaintiffs were heirs and sued to recover the land after 70 years.
