Simpson sued sureties of Mark Bacon formerly sheriff of Washington County to recover of said sureties for failure of said Bacon to pay over monies collected by him to which Simpson was entitled. Simpson gave execution against A.D. Taylor to Bacon for collecting a note, which Bacon failed to do.

Also includes Johnson, Carter, & Sullivan Counties. Plaintiffs were securities for Lipton, sheriff of Carter County, against whom several judgments were obtained for return of execution failures. Plaintiffs liable as Lipton's securities, so sued Lipton. Plaintiffs alleged Lipton had conveyed property to Johnson, & Plaintiffs wished to reach that property to satisfy liabilities they incurred as securities for Lipton. Lots of deposition testimony by nearly 30 witnesses.
